What are the admission requirements to enroll with Bottega University?

We accept new students each month! We do not require the MAT, GRE, or similar graduate entrance exams because those tests measure what you have already learned rather than your capacity to learn new things, problem solve, and persist with challenging tasks.

Undergraduate Admission Requirements
  • An application for admission
  • A government-issued ID
  • Official high school transcripts (or equivalent)
    • Your order confirmation or receipt may temporarily satisfy this requirement.
  • Official college transcripts from all prior, accredited colleges and universities
    • Not required for certificates or non-degree seeking students.
Graduate Admission Requirements
  • An application for admission
  • A government-issued ID
  • A conferred bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Official college transcripts from all prior, accredited colleges and universities
International Students

International students interested in earning their degree with Bottega University follow the same admissions process as domestic (US-based) students by completing an online application and submitting all other admissions requirements.

Instruction is provided in English and the University does not provide English as a Second Language services. Applicants for whom English is a second language must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL®) and have their official TOEFL® score report sent to the Office of Registrar under separate cover. Alternatives to the TOEFL, such as IELTS are acceptable. See the University Catalog for details.

  • Applicants must receive a TOEFL score of 500 on the paper-based test or 61 on the Internet-Based test (IBT).
  • Alternatively, an applicant may enroll in the University’s EN111 Composition I course online as a non-degree student. The University will accept a grade of C or better as proof of English proficiency in lieu of the TOEFL (or acceptable alternative).

International students interested in furthering their education for undergraduate or graduate studies must have their transcripts evaluated by a professional evaluation service. We recommend selecting a transcript evaluator from NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) and have your official transcripts evaluated and sent to Bottega University. This process will facilitate a smoother transition by helping us better understand your educational background.

International students who do not have US government photo identification will need to produce two forms of alternative photo identification during proctored examinations in order to verify their identity.

What type of support will I be given while a student at Bottega University?

These student advisors mentor students and provide academic advising support as students develop and personalize their study and degree plans. They are the first point of contact for helping students successfully complete their programs and resolving issues involving their program of study or any other schooling related issues students may have. Student Advisors are required by University policy to answer student inquiries within 24 hours during the work-week and within 48 hours on the weekend.

How much time should I plan to spend on a course?

A typical student who had no background in the course material would spend an average of 5-7 hours per week to successfully demonstrate achievement of all learning objectives in a single course.

Are you an online university, or will I have to attend scheduled classes?

Bottega University is an accredited online university that allows students to complete their degree programs virtually. Our programs do not have residency requirements, and students can earn their degrees 100% online.

Students access textbook chapters, course materials, quizzes, projects, and exams through our user-friendly learning management system. Proctored exams can be taken at home. Classes are available to students 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

Will you accept transfer credits?

An applicant who wishes to receive a transfer and/or equivalent credit evaluation prior to enrollment must provide official college transcripts and training certificates. Transfer credit evaluations will not be performed using unofficial transcripts. After a student enrolls in the University, there is no charge for a transfer credit evaluation. The transfer credit evaluation serves as a guide for determining the remaining coursework required for the student to complete his/her desired program of study.

Course content and instructional quality varies across institutions and, because of this, BU does not consider grade points for work completed at other colleges or universities. Therefore, transfer credit neither raises nor lowers a student’s grade point average. Only grades of C- or better will be considered for undergraduate credit and B- or better for graduate credit. In addition, the University has established the following limits on the maximum credits that are allowed for transfer into the degree programs.

Maximum Transfer Credits that May Be Awarded from All Sources

  • Associate Degree up to 45 credits (15 courses)*
  • Bachelor’s Degree up to 90 credits (30 courses)*
  • Master’s Degree up to 18 credits (6 courses)**

Computer and technology courses must have been taken within the last five years.

Will credits earned at your university be accepted at other universities?

The transferability of credits you earn at Bottega University is at the complete discretion of an institution to which you may seek to transfer. Acceptance of the degree you earn is also at the complete discretion of the institution in which you may seek to transfer. If the credits that you earn at this institution are not accepted at the institution to which you seek to transfer, you may be required to repeat some or all of your coursework at that institution. For this reason, you should make certain that your attendance at this institution will meet your educational goals. This may include contacting an institution to which you may seek to transfer after attending Bottega University to determine if your credits will transfer.

Do you offer career counseling?

Our career services team will assist you with employment preparation skills.
